Women's Section 57th Birthday

Women’s Section  held their 57th birthday on Sunday 28th March.

A total of around 200 members and visitors from sister clubs within the district were in attendance.

A lovely party atmosphere with plenty to drink and eat, the entertainment was the Bay Dixie band accompanied by Soloist Bill Ord. So a great afternoon was enjoyed by all.

Ladies Day 26th August

As always the Women's Section monthly meeting is attended by about 150 of their members, but this month there was an increase of 80, these extra were from the Mount Primary School.

The school had come along to entertain everyone on the day, and what a great show it was. Everyone remarked on how professional they all were in their costumes, and putting on a great display of action performing.

With the afternoon entrance fee of 50 cents, which included a door prize, afternoon tea, catching up with old friends, and a great show, it would be hard to find such a great afternoon elsewhere. With the Women's Sections membership of around 900 it is amazing that the club is not packed out every month.

The Volunteer Brigade

The Women's Section of the Mount Maunganui RSA was formed in 1953.  We currently have a membership of 1069, making this Women's Section the largest in New Zealand at the present time.

We have a working committee of 16 - these ladies are the administrators and organizers.  There is a Social Committee to organize our entertainment.

Special afternoons are held on the last Wednesday of each month at 1.30 pm.  Our format is a quick meeting, followed by an hour's entertainment and afternoon tea.

We raise funds by catering for many functions:- Funerals, Birthdays, Weddings and Rest Homes.  Our Internal Sport's Club Christmas parties and various Award ceremonies are also catered for.  The organization and collection for Poppy day is a big event and we help in the collections for the Cancer Society and the Blind Association.  We also sponsor a puppy for the Guide Dog Association called "Vito".
